Halifax Shipyard was started in 1889 as the Halifax Graving Dock Company: it became Halifax Shipyard in 1918 and Halifax Dartmouth Industries in 1979.  It has been part of the Irving Group since 1992.  Visit them here and see the yard from the air on Google here.
