Moore Dry Dock was founded in San Francisco in 1905 as Moore & Scott Iron Works, but burnt to the ground in the San Francisco earthquake. It restarted almost immediately and in 1909 bought the Boole & Sons shipyard, at the foot of Union Street, in Oakland. Moore bought out Scott and changed the name to Moore Shipbuilding in 1917 and to Moore Dry Dock in 1922. The USMC and the Navy each invested $9mm in its facilities for the WWII effort and its 3 ways were increased to 4 in the second wave of shipbuilding expansion. See the site from the air on Google here. The shipyard closed in 1960.
