Other Pre-WWI Shipbuilders in Bath, ME

Most recent update: May 3, 2016.

In the years between the Civil War and World War I, Maine was a major center of the shipbuilding industry and Bath was the center of Maine's shipbuilding industry, as it still is today.  Hundreds of ships were built, some with wooden hulls, others of iron.  Some were fully rigged ships, schooners and schooner barges, others were steam ships and some were both.  Some were designed for coastal trade, others for international trade.  The table below will eventually list the output of the smaller yards: all the big yards should have their own tables.   It is far from complete: if anyone has any corrections or additions, please send them to timcolton@aol.com
