Ward, Stanton & Co., Newburgh NY

(later James Bigler)

Most recent update: May 24, 2016.

This yard was started by Luther C. Ward and Samuel Stanton, formerly of Highland Furnace and Washington Iron Works, and was famous for the construction of several very fine yachts.  It failed in 1885, as a result of an uninsured fire, and was sold to James Bigler, who operated it until 1891.  The yard was located on South Water Street, near the foot of South William Street: see the site from the air on Google here.  If anyone has any information to add to the table below, please send it to me at timcolton@aol.com
