KAISER PERMANENTE No. 3

Richmond CA

Most recent update: August 7, 2021.

Permanente Metals Corporation's #3 Yard was an emergency yard developed by Kaiser with 5 ways, in the fourth wave of shipbuilding expansion, with $23mm from the USMC.  It closed at the end of the war.  There have been numerous attempts to reactivate this yard, none of them successful.  The docks are still there for the next investor who is tempted.  The yard was located at the southwest end of the main channel, at the end of Canal Boulevard: see the site from the air on Google here.
