New Orleans NS was never a naval shipyard but built some sub chasers during WWI. Pensacola NSY operated as a repair yard from 1825 to 1911 but is now the Pensacola Naval Air Station: you can still see where the shipyard was on Google, here. San Francisco NSY was primarily a repair yard and is still idle: visit it here and see it from the air on Google here. The Washington Navy Yard was once the world's largest ordnance factory but is now home to numerous naval shore establishments: visit it here and see it from the air on Google here. |
