COMMERCIAL IRON WORKS Portland OR |
Most recent update: October 5, 2020. |
Commercial Iron Works was started in November 1916, by William T. Casey, Otto J. Hoak and Robert Boogs, on a 30-acre site just south of the Ross Island Bridge. It closed in 1946, after building an astonishing 188 boats during the course of WWII. The site was sold to Zidell Marine as a ship dismantling facility, later becoming a barge builder: see it from the air on Google here.
