This yard has existed primarily for repairs of menhaden boats but several large vessels have been built there. It was first incorporated as Rappahannock Marine Railway Co. in 1905 by George P. Squires. H. R. Humphreys bought into the company in 1912 then in 1917 it was reorganized as Humphreys Marine Railways and Lumber Corporation, better known as Humphreys Railways. It became AMPRO Shipyard, Inc. in 1988. |
