Quality Equipment was established by Tidewater Marine in 1969 as a builder of tugs and supply boats and as a repair and maintenance facility for the Tidewater fleet.  The name was changed to Quality Shipyards in 1980.  In 2011 it dropped back to being just a repair yard, in 2013 it was sold to Leevac and in 2015 Leevac was sold to Gulf Island.  Visit the company at www.gulfisland.com.  The shipyard, which is now idle, is at 3201 Earhart Drive, on the south side of the GIWW, immediately to the west of the Prospect Boulevard bridge: see it from the air on Google here.
