STOWMAN SHIPYARDS
Dorchester NJ
Most recent
update: March 24, 2017.
The shipyard in Dorchester NJ was established by
Charles H. Stowman in 1890. Following the death of Charles H., the yard
was run by his sons, Charles A. and William B. Then in 1942 it was sold to
the next generation, Walton G. Stowman, Frank Wheaton, Jr., and Bennett Stowman.
It survived the war and in 1963 became Dorchester Shipbuilding, which is still in business
but no longer building ships. See it from the air on Google
here. If anyone can provide any
further information about the ships built here, please e-mail it to me at
timcolton@aol.com.
