SWIFTSHIPS SHIPBUILDERS

Sewart Seacraft, the builder of the famous Swiftboats, was started by Fred Sewart, in 1942, in Berwick LA.  It was originally Sewart Machine Works, Inc., but became Sewart Seacraft, Inc., in 1952.  It was sold to Teledyne in 1967 but spun off to its management as Swiftships, Inc., in 1969.  The new team moved the operation from Berwick to its present location in Morgan City and added capacity at yards in Houston TX, Lafitte LA and Pass Christian MS.  They had a little financial difficulty in 2002 but re-structured under the name Swiftships Shipbuilders, LLC, and carried on.  Visit the company at www.swiftships.com and see the yard from the air on Google here.  If anyone can see any errors in the table below, or can fill any of the many gaps, please send your input to timcolton@aol.com
