Thoma-Sea Boatbuilders was started by Walter Thomassie in 1993, as a small builder of tugs.  He increased both its capability and its capacity in 2001 by buying the Lockport shipyard formerly owned by Halter Marine, renaming it Thoma-Sea Shipbuilders.  He then expanded the Houma yard and renamed the combined company Thoma-Sea Marine: visit them at www.thoma-sea.com.  See the Lockport yard, which is on the east bank of Bayou Lafourche, from the air on Google here and the Houma yard, which is on the east side of the Prospect Road bridge here.
